Teamwork as you should already know if the topic of this site. Teams themselves can be described as any collection of people that are working together to achieve some sort of common goal. While the exact details regarding each team are different, the core can be traced back to this definition. Work teams are seen in virtually every aspect of the working world. The most common of these are standing committees, improvement teams and work teams.
Standing committees are more concerned with carrying out assignments that are long term. As part of this responsibility they act as advisability committees to upper levels of management. Improvement teams concern themselves more with improving the organization as a whole, part or even a specific task. These teams are generally made up of many different types of people. This allows more flexibility and skills to go towards the final product or recommendations of the team. Lastly, work teams are just what their name portrays. They are the work houses of the company, carrying out the every day-to-day work needed to keep a company going.
Teams themselves do not work right away and the effectiveness of the teams is dependant on many factors. Character traits such as, but not limited to, honesty, dependability and patience all affect how a team functions. Other human factors like the identity of individuals within the organization, relationships with team members and each team members personal identity affect how a team and its members function, if at all. One of the largest factors affecting the effectiveness of any team is the ability of the leader to lead. The leader is held to higher standards then the rest of the team as they are looked towards for guidance and strength in trying times.
